Your heating & air conditioning equipment is probably the most expensive appliance in your home. Keeping it maintenanced is very important in order to help extend the life of your equipment. Your refrigerant lines are supposed to be a closed system. They should not "use up" refrigerant. If you need to add refrigerant, ie. R-22 (Freon) or R-410a (Puron) to your system, then there is a leak in your system somewhere. Just putting more refrigerant in does not fix the problem. If the leak goes unchecked, it can get worse. Having a yearly check-up can catch small problems before they become big, expensive ones.
