How Does Geothermal Heating & Cooling Work?

The earth collects and absorbs around 48% of the sun's solar energy. At a depth of around 6' the earth maintains a constant temperature ranging between 45 - 70 degrees Fahrenheit. So think of your yard as a rechargable solar battery that is storing energy produced by the sun. A geothermal heating and cooling system extracts that natural energy, stored in the earth, and uses it to heat and/or cool your house.

How is the Energy Extracted from the Earth?

Stored energy is extracted from the earth by using a series of pipes - referred to as "the earth loop system" which can have different configurations.
